Folk/Rock Musician. Hale was a member of the popular 1960s musical group, "Spanky & Our Gang." The group formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1966, and included Lefty Baker, Elaine 'Spanky' McFarlane, Nigel Pickering, John Seiter, Kenny Hodges, and the late Paul Michael 'Oz' Bach. The group had a successful run until they disbanded in 1968 after only two years. There hits included Top 40 hits and other recordings including, 'Making Every Minute Count,' 'Give A Damn,' 'Like To Get To Know You,' 'Sunday Will Never Be The Same,' 'It Ain't Necessarily Bird Avenue,' 'Sunday Morning,' 'Yesterday's Rain,' 'Three Ways To Tomorrow,' 'Commercial,' 'And Shes Mine,' 'Like To Get To Know You,' and many others. On October 31, 1968, Hale died from carbon monoxide poisoning due to a faulty heater, at the age of 27.
