Joseph Nelson Chase
(July 7, 1905 - February 29, 1948)

Joseph Nelson Chase, 41, of Santee, NE, passed away on February 29, 1948, as a result of a gunshot wound inflicted by Ray Kitto.

Joseph Chase was born July 7, 1905 on the Santee Sioux Reservation, the son of Joseph Jesse "Tazmawaste" and Martha (Wakute) Chase.

Joseph Nelson Chase and Grace Emily Campbell were married on Oct. 4, 1927. She survives of the home. Also left to mourn were their four children; Glenn Aroultis Chase, Constance Muriel Chase, Olive Almeta Chase, and Lloyd Collins Chase. Other survivors include a brother; Thomas Chase, three sisters; Helena Chase, Olive Chase & Jeanette Chase Edwards.

Joe was a member of the Santee Sioux Tribe of Nebraska.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two young brothers; Obed Jesse & Oliver Charles Chase, & a baby sister; Marie Martha Chase.
