Ida Florence Puryear was born March 18, 1872 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She lived there till nearly seven years old, when her parents moved to Polk County, Iowa, where they remained one year and then went to Shelby County, Iowa, in 1879, they being among the early settlers there, residing her until her marriage in 1891 to Frank Akers, and immediately coming to Oregon and settling on a farm until moving to Ione in 1900. She was converted and joined the United Brethren church when a girl 16 years old. After coming to Ione, she joined the Baptist Church here in 1903. She was the mother of seven children: Mrs. Erma Watson of Winona Idaho, Roy, Viola, Bertha, Etta and Leola. One child, Baby Elton, died in infancy. Written by herself.
