Television Personality and Actor. A native of Olean, New York, he is familiar to television audiences as the host of such game shows as: "Hit Man" (1983), "Press Your Luck" (1983 to 1986), "Wordplay" (1986, pilot episode only), "Bargain Hunters" (1987), "Wipeout" (1988 to 1989), "Monopoly" (1990, pilot episode only), "Decades" (1994), "Paranoia" (2000), and ""Whammy! The All New Press Your Luck" (2002 to 2003). He also appeared in films including, "19 at 11" (2004), "Haunted" (1998), "Heaven Can Wait" (1978), "Secrets" (1977), and the television programs, "Ally McBeal," "Condo," "The Rockford Files," "Medical Center," "240-Robert," and "The Secret Empire." From 1995 to 1999, he hosted infomercials for "Closer Look." He later retired to his hometown to work as a watch winder. On March 13, 2006, while working as an "Angel of Mercy" pilot, he was killed along with his wife when their small plane crashed off the coast of Santa Monica, California. They were on their way to pick up a cancer patient in San Diego.
