Wife: Irene Lasky, married on Feb. 5, 1924. She died Dec. 31, 1962.
Andrew Frank was born Andrew Ippolito, to an Italian immigrant family. His family's last name was changed to Frank, when they moved to New Castle, PA. Andy was versed in Italian and English. He was raised on a farm, where he learned hard work and determination. Upon reaching adulthood, he courted and married Irene Lasky. For a time, they moved to Detroit, MI to look for work. Soon they returned to New Castle, PA. Andy and Irene opened a restaurant called the 5 cent Lunch. Their only living child to reach adulthood was born in 1930: Thelma. Irene gave birth to two stillborn children: one male and one female. When Irene developed tuberculosis in the early 1930's, they decided to close the restaurant. Since Irene was ill, she went to a tuberculosis sanitarium. Andy had to look for other work. During the depression years, he worked for WPA. Andy purchased land and built a little house for his family. He connected a pipe to a spring for running water; heat was provided by a coal stove. As time went on, he added a large living room to the house and a fireplace. Due to his work with the WPA, he was able to buy a dump truck. Later, he purchased a bulldozer so he could work in landscaping and grading property. He worked in this profession for many years and was successful. He retired in 1970. Andy loved ponies and horses and raised them on his farm. He also raised bees, a pig and chickens. He always planted a large garden every year that supplied many vegetables. He owned a race horse named Noble Beauty and enjoyed the horse races at the track. He adopted orphaned raccoons and took care of them until his death. His pride and joy was his Granddaughter, Roxane. He loved her very much. She came to visit him from California every summer. It was a great for him because he missed her. Roxane loved her Grandfather and enjoyed the visits. He took her to the racetrack to see the horses and they would bet on them. In 1975, he traveled to California to see her graduate from college. She was the first member of the family to do so. They went to Knott's Berry Farm and had a really good time. Roxane drove him and his second wife to Arizona to see her family. It was really fun to spend time with him.
Andy suffered from Thyroid and heart problems later in life. In 1980, Andy passed away from a massive heart attack.
Hobbies: hunting, horse racing, fishing, barbequeing, and planting a vegetable garden.
