Alice Melverine Armour Oldfield, MO

Alice Melverine Armour, 80 years, 7 months, and 25 days old, passed to Heaven on July 18, 2014 at Mercy Hospital, with her loving family at her side.

Melverine was born November 24, 1933 in Douglas County, MO, near High Lonesome to Roy and Lola (Pruett) Gray.

Melverine and Daryel Armour were united in marriage on March 23, 1953 by Caleb Maggard at his home in western Douglas County. To this union two sons were born.

After graduating Chadwick High School in 1950, Melverine was a grade school teacher for seven years. She later worked for many years as a merchant and bookkeeper at Armour Store, alongside her husband, Daryel.

She was a faithful Christian and a member of the Mound Baptist Church. Melverine loved singing and sang with the Mound Quartet for forty years. She also lead the youth group, Singing Soul Winners for a number of years. After retiring Melverine loved following the many activities and accomplishments of her granddaughters. Melverine was a very caring wife, mother and grandmother.

Melverine was preceded by her parents and her son, Michael John in 1975, two brothers, Almus and David Gray. Melverine is survived by her husband, Daryel Armour, of the home, son, Dwight Armour and his wife, Connie, Oldfield, MO, three granddaughters, Carissa Ledbetter and her husband Colton, Princeton, IN, Lindsey Armour and Emily Armour, Oldfield, MO, great-grandson, Carter Shane Ledbetter, Princeton, IN, nephew, Harold Gray and his wife, Nancy, Ozark, MO and sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Gray, Ozark, MO.

Funeral services for Melverine will be Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Mound Baptist Church, with burial in the Hall Cemetery (T Hwy) . Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava. Officiating will be Pastor Bill Dowell Jr. Memorials may be made to Hall Cemetery.
