Miss Steichen, Senior High Teacher, Dies

Kathryne E. Steichen, 1188 White Street., Dubuque school teacher, died unexpectedly Friday night at Xavier Hospital.

She began her career at Washington Junior High School, and taught for 26 years at Jefferson Junior High School. She began instruction at Senior High School in 1956

Friends may call at the Didesch Funeral Home, from where services will be held to St. Mary's Church at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Members of the Third Order of St. Dominic will meet at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

She was born in Dubuque and lived here all her life, Miss Steichen was a member of St. Mary's Church, its Rosary Society, the Third Order of St. Dominic, Women's Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Mary's Benevolent Society, Delta Kappa Gamma, Dubuque Teacher Assn., Iowa State Teachers Assn., and Gray Ladies of the Red Cross, and was Mercy Hospital Guild parliamentarian, and manager of the Senior High School "Echo", the school annual.

Miss Steichen was a graduate of Immaculate Conception Academy, and St. Mary's of the Woods. She received her Master of Arts degree from the State University of Iowa.

Surviving are her mother Mrs. Rose Steichen, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Marita Steichen, both at home.
