Frank Fudge
Frank Fudge was born July 26, 1911 on his family's farm 8 1/2 miles northwest of Timber Lake, the son of Millard and Nora (Furnish) Fudge. He spent his early years on the family farm and attended the nearby Hole School.
While still a young man, he moved to the Firesteel area where he worked in the coal mine and did some farming. On June 1, 1941 he married Nellie Parry at Mobridge. They lived on a farm one mile north of Firesteel and in 1943 moved to another farm one mile west of Timber Lake. Then in 1947 he and his wife bought the Elder Place two miles west of Timber Lake, and moved there to ranch and do some farming. Here he spent the balance of his life raising sheep and cattle. He also operated a cream station at Timber Lake for 15 years.
Frank was well known for his ability to play string instruments, and one of his hobbies was to play for barn dances and house parties. He also played the accordian.
He passed away Wednesday, May 18, 1988, at his farm home northwest of Timber Lake. Death was attributed to heart failure. He was 76 years old.
