Inventor. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was an avid golfer, and with Bertram G. Work received a patent for a new modern golf ball on April 11, 1899. Haskell's and Work's ball consisted of rubber thread wrapped around a solid rubber core, which dramatically increased the popularity of golf. In 1901, he established the Haskell Golf Ball Company Ohio, which manufactured the new golf ball and shipped the product worldwide.
