Army Spc Fuller was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. He was on patrol in Shkin when his unit engaged Taliban guerillas near the Pakistan border. He was one of six snipers who came under fire during the early hours of "Operation Mountain Viper" and died of injuries sustained during the attack. Chad graduated in 1998 from Potsdam Central School, where he was a star athlete, participating in football, lacrosse, wrestling, baseball and track. He enlisted in the Army in August 1998 and re-enlisted in 2002. He married Jessica Pike on March 22 at Potsdam Town Hall. Chad enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, nature and animals.
