Aloha E. Freeland 87, of Kokomo passed away at 5:10 pm on April 30, 2014 at Century Villa Health Care in Greentown. She was born on May 18, 1826 in Sharon, Indiana to the Rev. Jack E. and Vera M. (Kelly) Yarian. On December 8, 1961 Aloha married Kenn Freeland at Judson Baptist Church.
Aloha was a Carrolton High School 1944 graduate also received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education at Purdue University. She was a teacher at several elementary schools and was a writer and publisher. Aloha was a great pianist, organist, and singer. She loved animals, traveling and mission work especially with children. Her memberships include First Baptist Church in Greentown, formerly Westside Baptist Church in Kokomo, in TX Hilltop Church, Rockland Church, First Baptist in Doucette, Ebenezer, in IN. Perrysburg, Jordan, and Judson Baptist Church in Kokomo.
Survivors include husband Kenn Freeland; children Richard F. (Patricia) Freeland, Daniel Lee. Freeland, Constance (Ed) Pleimann, Susan Turley; 10 grandchildren Elizabeth (Jeremy McKinney) Basham, Frank (Becky) Basham Jr., Jeanie Basham, Jennifer (Sean) Burrow, Stacy (Court) Hollingsworth, Jannie (Justin) Marshall, Kelly (Mike) Oriet, Gloria Turley, Jessie Turley, Terry (Tammy Wood) Turley; 24 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins & Friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, sister Marcheta Yarian, brother Jack Yarian Jr.; son in-law Jerry Turley; great grandchild Patty Burrows; brother-in-law & sister-in-law Bill & Carolyn Young; brother-in-law Richard L. Freeland.
Funeral services will be held at 10: 30 am on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Judson Baptist Church 1995 N. 750 W. Kokomo. Burial will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery in Sharon, IN. Friends may call upon the family from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday at the church.
