Ellen E. (Dittenhafer) Barley, 83, died on Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Anthony R. Barley. Funeral Monday, January 9, at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Home, Red Lion, her pastors, Rev. Roger H. Mentzer and Rev. Carl B. Rife, officiating. Burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Born July 3, 1922, in Strinestown, she was a daughter of the late Ervin and Mary (Ensminger) Dittenhafer. She was a seamstress, having retired from York Casket Company after more than 25 years. Prior to that, she had worked in a local sewing factory. She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and its adult Sunday school group, Order of Eastern Star, Golden Agers, and Red Lion AARP. Mrs. Barley is survived by two daughters, Brenda J. and husband, Donald Leight of Yoe and Connie R. and husband, Charles Myers of Red Lion; five grandchildren, Tammy, Todd, Troy, Marnette, and Jenna; three great-grandchildren, Kristy, Abby, and Nathan; and a brother, Frank Dittenhafer of York. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Charles Dittenhafer. [York Daily Record]
