Magdalen F. Ackerman, 92, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Trinity manor, Dodge City.
She was born May 7, 1913 at Spearville, the daughter of Hermann and Catherine Heeke Schawe.
On May 12, 1936, she married Anthony B. Ackerman at Windthorst. He preceded her in death May 3, 1996.
A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church and Altar Society, both of Spearville.
Survivors include: four sons, Denis and wife Judy, Arvada, Colorado, Vic and wife Linda, Dodge City, Robert, Sachse, Texas and Steve and wife Kerry, Spearville; two daughters, Elvira Dick and husband Robert, Abilene, and Doris Waldron and husband David, Ulysses; 3 sisters, Elizabeth Ackerman and Pauline Durler and husband John all of Dodge City and Sr. Ancilla Schawe, Great Bend; 14 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 4 step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sr. Karen Ackerman, 1 brother, 2 sisters and 2 grandchildren.
Vigil Service will be 7 p.m. Friday at St. John The Baptist Church, Spearville. Funeral Mass will be 10a.m. Saturday at the church with Fr. Wesley W. Schawe presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Burial will be Holy Cross Cemetery, Windthorst. In lieu of flower, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of the Prairie, Trinity Manor or Windthorst Heritage, Inc. all in care of Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City Kansas 67801.
