Elaine Bowman Amy, 81, died Friday, December 16, 2005, at North Florida Medical Center in Gainesville after a brief illness. She was a resident of Blessed Hope Assisted Living Facility in Lake City, Fla. Before moving to Lake City, she was a long-time resident of Bradenton, Fla., where she attended Bayshore Baptist Church. She was born July 22, 1924, in Lake City, Pa. She graduated from Sibley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, D.C. in 1946 and went on to a long career as a registered nurse. She married William M. Amy December 20, 1947, and he preceded her in death in 2002. She is survived by three children: William T. Amy and his wife Cindy of Fort White, Fla., Richard C. Amy and his wife Anne of Atlanta, GA, and Laura Amy Pierce and her husband Jim of Haslett, Mich.; nine grandchildren: Alison K. Rivers, Jason E. Amy, Larissa R. Amy, Marinda K. Amy, Alena M. Amy, Rachael G. Conant, Eric R. Amy, Kevin S. Tramege, and Shawn E. Bennett, and by one great grandson: Zachary H. E. Bennett. Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at which time a funeral service will be held in Burton's All Faiths' Chapel with Rev. Ed Huntley of the Federated Church officiating. Burial will follow in Girard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blessed Hope Assisted Living Facility, 1225 SW Grandview Ave, Lake City, FL. 32025.
