Jean Baur Miller, 76, the last immediate member of the Campbell and Nellie Baur family, died peacefully after declining health on Thursday, May 17, 2001.

Jean was the widow of Russell W. Miller and is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Edith M. Light and Robert Chambliss Light Jr. of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Paige M. Brydon and Carter Christian Brydon of Chicago, Illinois; four beloved grandchildren, Robert C. Light III, Paige Leftwich Light, Miller Chadwick Brydon and MacLaren Baur Brydon. She is also survived by a niece, numerous nephews and cousins who loved her dearly.

Jean was a 1942 graduate of John Marshall High School. She was a secretary at the Richmond Foundry, moved to Alabama, returned and eventually became the church administrator at St. Giles Presbyterian Church. Words cannot describe what a wonderful Christian gentlewoman she was.

She possessed an incredible sense of humor, and chose to live her life always filled with laughter and hope. Jean was a woman of tremendous faith and courage. She touched all who came in contact with her, no matter how brief the time. Mom will be missed by all of us who were blessed to love and be loved by her. The family will receive friends 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Avenue. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 21, at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 5200 Grove Ave.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Chamberlayne Baptist Church Group Home Endowment Fund, 215 Wilkinson Road, Richmond, Va. 23227.
