Geraldine Holsteen

Geraldine Harriet Holsteen, 74, of Wapello, formerly of rural Burlington, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 1993, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born Dec. 29. 1918 at Kingston, she was the daughter of Harry E. and Hazel Brockway Washburne. She married Robert W. Holsteen Aug. 2, 1939, at Kingston. He died March 19, 1990.

She was a graduate of Huron High School and attended Burlington Business College. She and her husband farmed in rural Burlington, along Highway 99, until 1980 when they moved to Wapello. She was a homemaker and had been a member of the Kingston United Methodist Church until 1980. She taught Sunday School formany years and also served as treasurer of the church. She later became a member of the United Methodist Church in Wapello.

Survivors include three sons, Daniel Holsteen of Wapello, Richard Holsteen of Burlington, and David Holsteen of rural Burlington; five grandchildren; two step
grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her stepmother, Edna Washburne.

Friends may call as they desire after 8 a.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Lunning Chapel.

The funeral for Mrs. Holsteen will be 10 a.m. Friday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Edward Philgreen officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Hope Haven Development Center and the Wapello United Methodist Church.
