FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR M. CHRISTIANSON
Peaceful and impressive funeral services were held for Mathias Christianson at Our Savior's Lutheran church on Friday afternoon, September 24th, with Rev. G. Aarestad officiating. Special music at the church consisted of two solos by Sterling Knutson of Minot. Mrs. G. Aarestad played the organ.
The pall bearers were Mr. Christianson's grandsons, Conrad and Tilfred Christianson, Milton, Raymond and Henry Olson and Lester Anderson.
Donations were made to the mission by relatives and friends for a more permanent and lasting remembrance.
Mathias Christianson was born July 12, 1857 at Kolbu, Vestre Toten, Norway. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and in 1884 was united in marriage to Charlotte Johnson. To this union severn children were born, four of whom died in infancy.
In 1892 he and his family immigrated to the United States, coming to Kindred, N. Dak., where they made their home for several years. In 1897 the family was saddened by the death of Mrs. Christianson.
He moved to Glenburn in 1903 and during the latter years has been residing at the home of his son where he has been bedridden for about two years. He passed away at 12:45 o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, September 21, 1937 at the age of 80 years, two months and nine days.
Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. Fred Anderson and Mrs. O. C. Olson, and a son, Morris, all of Glenburn. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. August Grondahl of Minot and Mrs. John Peterson of McLeod, N. Dak., and 17 grandchildren.
A long useful life has earned its just reward; blessed be his memory.
