Edna Reeves Anderson, age 98, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at First United Methodist Church of Hurst. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, in Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 3, at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Edna was born April 15, 1915, in Tarrant County to George Preston Reeves and Nora Austin Reeves. She graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a degree in elementary education. She taught for years in Birdville and H-E-B schools. For 49-plus years, Edna and her husband, Reginald W. Anderson, shared a committed life in service to their faith, their families and their community. They traveled the world together, but always returned to Hurst where they were pioneers in the development of the community. Edna's greatest joy was giving to others. Her generosity has benefited many organizations, foundations and charities in addition to her lifelong church that began as Isham's Chapel, the forerunner to First United Methodist Church of Hurst. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald; three sisters; and five brothers. Survivors: Nephews, Dr. Preston Reeves, Elmo Reeves Jr., Phillip Reeves; nieces, Georgia Duncan, Mary Ruth Ellis, Suzanne Gillock and Nancy Corn; as well as other special family members and friends, including her longtime, devoted friend, Bobbie Roberts. Bobbie and her wonderful family made sure that Edna had the very best of care and was always comfortable in the last years and days of her life. We will miss our Aunt Edna but her loving ways and smile will always remain in our hearts.
