"Find a place inside where there's joy, and the joy will burn out the pain." Esther (Bartolomei) Ruggirello unexpectedly passed on Dec. 15, 2013, at the age of 59, at her home in Martinez. Esther was born and raised in Martinez, and remained a lifelong resident of the city. Esther spent her entire career working in accounting at the now Tesoro Refinery. Those who had the joy of being part of Esther's life got to experience her one-of-a-kind personality and her warm and kind spirit. Esther was preceded in death by her father and mother, Chet and Adele Bartolomei, both of Martinez; and the love of her life, William "Bill "Ruggirello. Esther is survived by her daughter Nicole DeCarlo, sister Jolene Bartolomei Meek, and nephews Kenny Meek and Kurtis Meek. She was loved deeply and will be missed by all who were part of her life. Esther will now join Bill in paradise and may everyday be a perfect day for a ride.
