STRATTON -- Earl B. Petersen died Sunday (March 29, 1987) at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman. He was born June 11, 1918 to Peter C. and Edna L. (Carper) Petersen.

He married Josephine McNeice on July 4, 1936 at Norton, Kansas. He was a farmer in the Stratton area and a member of the McCook Elks Lodge No. 1434.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lewellen and two brothers, Raymond and Lyle.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine of Stratton; three sons, Roland and Roddy, both of Lexington, and Merwin of Stratton; two daughters, Mrs. Dareld (Joyce) Blake of Sutherland and Mrs. Douglas (Beverly) Eller of Lakewood, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Melvin (Lorenza) James of Haxton, Colorado; and one brother, Melvin Petersen of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Services will be Thursday, 1:30 p.m. CST at the United Methodist Church in Stratton with the Rev. J.B. Choate officiating. Interment will be in the Culbertson Cemetery with committal services by the McCook Elks. Memorials are being accepted in his name and may be left at the Jones Funeral Home of Stratton.
