Patricia Elizabeth Briggs, 63, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 10, 2005 at her residence. She was born in Eastport on January 2, 1942, a daughter of Ralph and Pearl McGarvey. She attended Portland schools and was a graduate of Portland High School, Class of 1960. Mrs. Briggs was employed as a physician referral coordinator at Martin's Point Health Care prior to her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grand-daughter, Katarina. She enjoyed reading and traveling. She had recently traveled to Disney World in Florida and Arizona. She is predeceased by her husband, Earle Briggs, Jr. on January 27, 2005; two brothers, Ralph McGarvey and J. Barry McGarvey. She is survived by her daughter Kristen Briggs of Portland; her son, Barry Briggs and his fiancé, Nicole Myre of Washington Township, Ohio; two brothers, Wayne McGarvey of Portland, and Richard McGarvey of South Portland; three grandchildren, Katarina Nixon, Kristen Myre and Cydney Carpenter. A gathering of friends and family will take place on Thursday, June 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland, where there will be a sharing of memories at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Maine Children's Cancer Program, 100 Campus Drive, Scarborough, Maine 04074.
