Jackie Sue Nearon, 72, long-time resident of Marion, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 in IU Medical Center, Indianapolis after a brief illness. She was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Walter Mason and the late Geneva Mason. Jackie was a graduate of Wingate High School. She married John P. Nearon on December 22, 1964.
She retired from J.C. Penney where she had worked in sales for over 8 years and formerly worked for the Marsh Supermarkets, starting in the meat department, she was later made regional manager of all Marsh Cosmetic Departments. In later years, she worked at Elder-Beerman and J.C. Penney, but through it all, her favorite job was being wife, mother and homemaker. Jackie enjoyed flower gardening and was proud of the Giant Iris she grew. She enjoyed decorating her home, inside and out for the various holidays and seasons, and enjoyed trips to the Smokey Mountains, Myrtle Beach, Grand Ole Opry and going to car shows with her husband. All of her many friends and family will miss her sincerity, glowing personality, wit and sense of humor. Jackie dearly loved her granddaughter, Kimberly, who was the light of her life.
She was also a member of the Elks and the Meshingomesia Country Club, Marion.
Funeral Service: will be at 10 am Friday, January 10, 2014 and Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Avenue, Marion, IN with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Entombment will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion.
Visitation: will be from 3-7 pm Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the funeral home.
