My Third Great Grand Mother via her oldest child and daughter Sarah West Atwell and her first marriage to William Thomas Erridge.

Mary Farley (Doughty) Atwell was the mother of fourteen children, eleven survied to adulthood: Sarah West (Atwell) Erridge McCoy, Anne (Atwell) Webb, John Earl Atwell, Mary Nancy Farley (Atwell) Headley, William H. Atwell, Francis Farley (Atwell) Hoover, Harriet (Atwell) Stober, Richard Noler Atwell, Ellen (Atwell) Aldridge, George Atwell, and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Atwell) Jones.

All of the above children (except for the last three) were born in or near Ramsgate, County of Kent, England. Of the last three, Ellen was born in Pennsylvania shortly after her parents immigrated from England and it is believed that George and Elizabeth were both born in Wapello County, Iowa.

Mary immigrated fron England with seven of her children. They arrived on 18 October 1855 in New York on the Harvest Queen from Liverpool, England. John had immigrated earlier to prepare the way for his family. We still have not found the ship nor the date of his immigration.
