Betty L. Hargis-Fuchs, 73, of Columbia died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at her home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W., with the Rev. Gary DeWitt officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hargis-Fuchs was born Aug. 10, 1930, in Bloomington, Ill., to Alfred and Helene Sherman Williams.

She married William Hargis on April 2, 1950, and he preceded her in death. She married Dr. William Fuchs on Aug. 25, 2001, and he survives.

She was employed at State Farm Insurance Cos. for 34 years until her retirement in 1987. She attended Community United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer at Columbia Regional Hospital for several years.

Survivors also include two stepchildren, Kenneth Fuchs and Cindy Fuchs-Morrissey of Columbia; and seven step-grandchildren.

A brother, Clifford Williams also preceded her in death.
