Funeral services for John Armistead Hefley, 83, who died at a local clinic Wednesday night, were conducted "Friday at the First Methodist Church by the Rev. O. A. Marrs and the Rev. K. G. Dunn. Burial was in East View. Born in Carroll County, a son of the late James and Susan Hefley, Mr. Hefley came to Obion County at the age of 5, and from young manhood had been prominently, identified with all interests of the county, as well as being one of the most prominent farmers and bankers of West Tennessee. He served Obion County as trustee from 1900 to 1904. From 1904 to 1934 he was in the banking business and become county judge of Obion County. As a young man Judge Hefley married Miss Lou E. Odom, who died about 35 years ago. To this union five children were born, four of whom survive, J. V. Hefley, W. L. Hefley, Mrs. Martha Ellington of Woodland Mills and Herbert E. Hefley of Hickman, as well as his second wife, Mrs. Kate Hefley of Woodland Mills.
