Sadly, on April 30, 2013 Phil was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia M5. He was hospitalized on that same day and immediately began chemo treatments. He was released from the hospital on May 28 and this photo was taken on June 20,2013 while having dinner together at Za's in Broad Ripple. We had a really great time on this day ♥

I met Phil Finney on June 24 2007. I was going through a very hard time in my life and while talking with God on that day I said to Him, "You know that I don't want to be alone, so any door that gets knocked on, I'm going through it and if I'm not suppose to do that, then please close it for me because I never want to feel this kind of hurt again" Before I could end that prayer, I hear a man speak up asking is anyone here? I walked to the front of the store and there Phil Finney stood. We talked for a bit and as he was leaving he turned and asked if I would like to go out with him sometime. I started to say no, but I remembered my prayer and said yes, that I would. I knew God brought him to me. Finney was originally from Lubbock Texas and it didn't take long for me to learn that his heart was as big as that state. When we met it was like we had known each other forever. A few months into our relationship it really bothered him that I didn't carry a phone because since I work late nights he was concerned that my car would break down and I'd have to get out to try to find some sort of help, so he went and bought for me my first cell phone. He loved country dancing and the first time he danced with me he nearly knocked me out :o) I was use to what I like to call free stylin' lol And he loved the twirl. He took hold of my hand and gave me a really big spin and I didn't know what in the world happened to me until I almost hit the floor! He caught me and said what the heck are you doing! And believe me, I was thinking the same thing about him :o) It was hilarious! Being from Texas he always called me Darlin and I really loved that. He was 2 years younger than me and I told him that I really didn't want to date younger men and he said well I usually don't like dating really old ladies either but there's just something about you :o) Since my kids were born I've always made up silly little songs for them and I do it for my grand babies too, despite the fact that I really can't sing, at all. I think it makes it more fun that way though :o) One day Phil was at my daughters with me and he heard me singing one of the songs to my grandson Colton and he said you made that up, and I said yes I did, and he said why have you never made a song about me, and I told him that now I will. I worked on it that day and by late afternoon I called his phone and sang to him what I call "The Phil Finney Song" He made me sing it to him all the time. The day before he passed away he was sitting on the side of his bed and he said make me feel better Hunny and I said I really wish that I could Finney and he said sing to me. I asked what he wanted me to sing and he just hung his head and I remembered his song and that's what I sang and it made him so happy. He had tears running and he patted my leg and thanked me for doing something for him that no one else had ever done. So I want to share the Phil Finney Song with you, to give you a little more insight into the life of a very special man that I had a divine appointment with through God... " Once there was a girl named Sandy Sue, who met this younger man and she didn't know what to do. He wined her and he dined her and he twirled her all around, She felt as if her feet never touched the ground. First he took her here... and then he took her there... Soon she felt as if he took her every where, He gave her his heart and the key to his home, He even went and bought for her - her first cell phone. He calls her Darlin and he calls her Hunny, He gives her lots of flowers just to make her life feel sunny, He opens all the doors for her and then he holds her hand, He treats her like a lady in every way he can. Now this is my story and it's one of many, It's about a man from Texas whose name is Phil Finney.
