On Oct. 13, 2013, Charlotte Florence Hennen Dye went home to heaven.
She was the daughter of the late Charles Freeland Hennen and Phoebe Jane Corbitt Hennen of Wirt County.
In addition to her parent, Charlotte was preceded in death by several siblings and her husband, Cluster Otmer Dye.
Charlotte and Cluster were married on Dec. 24, 1941 by Rev. Thompson in Charleston. While Cluster was serving in the Navy in Oxnard, Calif. during WWII, Charlotte was there working in a bean factory as well as Allis-Chalmers. Charlotte and Cluster operated Dye's Hardware in Sissonville for 35 years. Over the years, they were faithful members of several churches including Allen's Fork Community Church, Goldtown Community Church and Fisher Memorial Church.
Charlotte was blessed with talents in cooking, sewing, singing and playing piano. Her love for gospel music inspired her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to seek pleasure in gospel music and service to the Lord also. Many of them singing, playing instruments, teaching and serving the Lord in other capacities. Charlotte sang in choirs, quartets and family groups, as well as playing the piano for some of them most of her life. She enjoyed being a member of "Stitching Sisters" where she took immense pleasure in sewing quilts for people.
Charlotte was a dedicated wife and mother, making sure her family was healthy, productive, educated and trained in spiritual matters. She set an exemplified life before her family and neighbors and will be sadly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are three children, daughters, Judy Lynn Dye-Taylor (Virgil Martin Jr.) of Kenna and Deanna Sue Dye-Fisher Wilkinson (John Wilkinson) of Sissonville; son, Ricky Dean Dye (Jill Dye) of Sissonville; grandchildren, Matthew Taylor, Tiffany Taylor Johnson, Ginger Fisher McClanahan, Betsy Fisher Palmer, Ben Fisher, Mandy Dye Carpenter and Angela Dye Liljander; 19 great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, all of which were greatly loved and supported by their grandparents, Cluster and Charlotte Dye.
Funeral service will be noon Friday, Oct. 18, at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville, with Pastors Al Mendez and Joey Scarberry officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville. A gathering of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, and also one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
