Mr. Frank W. Challand, 89, of Hinckley, lifelong resident of DeKalb County, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 1963, in the Copley Memorial Hospital in Aurora, following surgery. He was confined in the hospital for 2½ months.

He was born on the Challand homestead in Clinton Township, August 20, 1874, the son of Henry and Emma Hardimant Challand. He attended Waterman schools and graduated from the Aurora Business College.

January 31, 1900 he married Anna Hunt, who preceded him in 1947. Mr. Challand resided and farmed in the Hinckley area for over 50 years retiring a few years ago.

Surviving are a son, Arthur F. Challand, of Hinckley; two granddaughters, Nancy and Jennifer; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Wollenweber of DeKalb.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 21, 1963 at 2 p.m. from the Nash Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. L. G. Weber officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Duane Davis, Robert Evans, Percy Johnson, Wayne Phillips, Ralph Sauter and Orin Bromeland.
