Dora Lee Dean, 83 of Elkton, passed away September 26, 2013 at her home.

Mrs. Dean was born June 27, 1930 in Elkton, and was the daughter of the late Mannis and Mary Williams Herring. She was a member of the Church of Solsburg in Elkton, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Dean previously worked at Metro Pants and Dovel's Home for Adults and enjoyed gardening, housecleaning and cooking.

On December 21, 1957, she married George Washington "Ben" Dean, who died January 3, 1998. She is survived by sons, Randy Dean & Brenda, Elkton, David Dean, Elkton; daughters, Peggy Miller & Steve, Harrisonburg, Terry Powers & Richard, Penn Laird; sister, Mildred Lam, Penn Laird; three grandchildren, Teresa Hammer & Jeffrey, April Miller, Steven Miller Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lam, Jarrett Lam; two step-grandchildren, Hope Clatterbuck, Destiny Washington; 9 step-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Donna Faye Dean; step- grandson, Jonathan Lam; sister, Betty F. Lam and brother, James W. Herring.

The Rev. Alvin Dovel will conduct the funeral service at 2:00 pm, Monday, September 30, 2013, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton.

Burial will follow in the Elk Run Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday 6:00 ~ 8:00 pm at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton. Friends may also call at the home of her son, Randy, at any time.
