Paul Galli immigrated in 1885 according to the 1900 census. He was already married back in Italy and came ahead of the family to get established and then sent for his wife and son Nick who arrived 1891.

In 1900 he was operating a rented farm in Las Animas Precinct in Gilroy Township, Santa Clara County. By 1910 he had a dairy operation in Hollister Township in San Benito County. Like many immigrants he had to learn English and adapt to new circumstances in the US. In 1900 he is reported as unable to read or write. By 1910 he is reported as literate.

*Birth dates of these two sons cannot both be right but these are in the California death indices.
