Leland C. Conrad, age 81 departed this life at 3:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 in Heartland of Clarksburg following an extended illness.
He was born in Vienna, WV on Sept. 21, 1923, a son of the late Howard C. Conrad and Ethel M. (Boice) Conrad.
Surviving are his wife, Wilda June (Nelson) Conrad, two daughters, Elizabeth M. Pigg and her husband, Martin, Salem, WV and Lynn V. Weiler and her husband, Alan, LaGrange, IL, one sister, Barbara L. Weaver, Belpre, OH and four grandchildren, Gregory M. Pigg, Katherine E. Pigg, Nathan A. Weiler and Aaron T. Weiler.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Mr. Conrad was a member of the Beechwood Presbyterian Church in Parkersburg, WV.
He served his country during World War II in the Marine Corps receiving a Purple Heart.Mr. Conrad was in the 1st Marine Division in the South Pacific.
He was a member of the V. F. W., Post #573, Clarksburg, and Chapter #418 Military Order of the Purple Heart.
Mr. Conrad was a retired buyer for wholesale groceries.
Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main St., Clarksburg, WV from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Thursday where a funeral service will be held at 1p.m., Friday, Sept. 16, 2005 with the Rev. Roger Fontaine presiding.
Interment will be in the West Virginia National Cemetery, Taylor County with full military rites accorded by the V.F.W. Post #3081 of Grafton, American Legion Post #12, Taylor County and the D.A.V. #24.
