Bernice L. (Nason) Backman, 71 of Plymouth, formerly of Falmouth, died Sept 13, 2013. Born Feb 06, 1942 in Quincy, she was the daughter of the late John Francis Nason. She attended Quincy Schools and moved to Falmouth after getting married in 1970 to Chief Andrew L. Backman (Otis ANGB FD). Bernice is survived by her son John R. Backman of Carver and Andrew L. Backman Jr. along with her daughter-in-law Karen Backman, and granddaughters Ariana and Kyla.
She is also survived by her brother John (Jack) Nason and sister-in-law Sally Nason of Maine, sister-in-law Janet Backman of Quincy, brother-in-law Carl Backman and sister-in-law Ingrid Backman of FL. She was also the sister of the late George Nason also of Maine.
The family would like to thank the staff of Emeritus at Plymouth Beach and Beacon Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care.
Funeral arrangements made by the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home with interment at the MA National Cemetery where she will be buried with her late husband Andrew. Interment will be at the MA National Cemetery, where she will be buried with her late husband, Andrew.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bernice's honor to the MA Alzheimer's Association.
