Charles (CJ) H. Porter, Jr. was born in Castlewood, Va. in 1921. He attended and graduated from Temple Hill High School located in Castlewood, Va. CJ joined the Army Air Corps in 1943, After completion of basic and Gunner's school, he was sent to Thorpe Abbotts in England. CJ was placed into the 8th Airfoce 100th Bomb Group 351st Squardron and from June of 1944 to OCT. 1944 completing 34 missions as a tail-gunner in the B-17 Flying Fortress. CJ retired from the USAF in 1964 after receiving many awards and medals including the "Distinguished Flying Cross". CJ rasied a family of 4 with his wife (Rose Saunders Porter). CJ worked for 24yrs for DS Buck, INC. and retired in 1986. CJ loved to garden and loved his grandchildren. Charles H. Porter, Jr. passed and went to Heaven on Oct. 4, 1996.
