Otto Hayes of Union Pier, Michigan, died Thursday morning, December 23, 2004, at LaPorte Hospital in LaPorte, Indiana.

Mr. Hayes was born February 19, 1916 in Rensselaer, Indiana. He was the son of Thomas A. and Eva Gasaway Hayes. On April 9, 1944 he married Judith Schrader in New Buffalo, Michigan. Mrs. Hayes preceded him in death on August 9, 1993.

Mr. Hayes served his country in the US Army. He was employed by the South Shore Motor Co. in Michigan City, Indiana and the Indiana Motor Bus Company in South Bend, Indiana, retiring in 1976.

After retirement, Mr. Hayes served as an attendant at the New Buffalo Boat Ramp and also worked for the New Buffalo Public School System. He was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. Mr. Hayes loved sports, especially football and was a fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Donna Hayes of Grand Rapids, Michigan; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Steven; his great grandson, Noah, and several step grandchildren.
