CLYDE EUGENE GREEN SR was born October 4, 1893 in Lillington, Harnett County, NC; the third child (second son) of ROBERT EDWARD LEE GREEN (1862-1947) and wife CAROLINE MCNEILL SPEARS (1861-1901).

He enjoyed growing up "in the country" but by June 1900 the Green family had moved "to town" and was living in Raleigh, Wake County, NC. He enjoyed many exciting experiences there, too.

On July 12, 1911, at age 17, Clyde married FANNIE MAUD WILKERSON (01 May 1894-02 Feb 1914). Sadly, Fannie Maud died in childbirth with their first child, an unnamed daughter. Mother and child are buried together in Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh, NC.

On May 23, 1917, at age 26, Clyde enlisted as a Private in the US Army to fight in WWI. He served in France and Belgium: Ypres - Canal Sector 17 Aug - 04 Sep 1918 and the Second Somme Offensive, 29 Sep - 2 Oct; 4 Oct - 11 Oct & 16 Oct - 19 Oct 1918. He was never wounded; however, he did suffer from mustard gas poisoning. Clyde received an Honorable Discharge April 9, 1919 at Camp Jackson, SC.

Upon his return home from the War in the Spring of 1919, he spent time in Veteran's Hospitals in Kickatan, VA and Asheville, NC (Oteen) where he was treated for Tuberculosis.

On October 18, 1923, at age 30, Clyde married MARY WINDER BRYAN (28 May 1904-07 Jan 2008). They had three children; the first, a daughter, died as an infant. In 1926, daughter Mary Winder was born and in 1928, son Clyde Eugene, Jr. was born. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in divorce ca 1935.

On January 6, 1962, at age 68, Clyde married MAUDE A. GILES NEWTON (07 May 1896-10 Jan 1978), a widow. They lived at 1316 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC until his death in 1970.

On February 7, 1970, at age 76, Clyde died in Rex Hospital, Raleigh, of post operative pneumonia (7 days) and carcinoma of esophagus (4 months). He was buried February 9, in Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh; Marker # 4412, Section 5, Lot 152, Unit D, Space 3.
