Haden's first marriage was to Nota Walker, they had eleven children. After Nota's death, Haden married Myrtle Walker Meadows Jordan Rice, Nota's sister.
Uncle Hade, his daughter, Wana Walker Mahaffey, her husband, Jr., and their two sons, Paul and Perry were visiting Hade's niece, Rachel Walker Hatcher (my mom) in Grafton Ohio, in March, 1964. (I was 10 years old and remember playing with Perry and Paul that day). On their way home they were involved in an automobile accident due to icy road conditions and Hade and Paul were killed (in Brecksville, Ohio).
Haden was my great-uncle on my grandfather's side and Nota and Myrtle were my great-aunts on my grandmother's side.
Haden hauled lumber for his father's sawmill by wagon and a yoke of oxen. It was a three day round trip to and from Hinton, West Virginia. Haden received 25 cents per day.
Later Haden and his father were in a store business together and they also operated the post office in Egeria, West Virginia.
The eleven children of Haden and Notie are:
1. Cressa Nile Walker Fendley
2. Norma Nadine Walker Pegram
