TITUSVILLE - Elizabeth "Bettie" Hobin of Titusville, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2012.
Bettie was born in Philadelphia, PA, and was the daughter of the late Mary G. Roebling. Bettie was a lifelong area resident with deep ties throughout the community. She was predeceased by her husband, David J. Hobin.
During her life, Bettie was a fervent contributor to charitable and social endeavors in the community. She was a member of social organizations, including the Junior League of Trenton and Princeton, and was a lifelong member of the Trenton Country Club. She also belonged to the Trenton Club for many years, where she enjoyed playing bridge with "the girls."
Bettie also volunteered her time for countless philanthropic organizations, such as the Founders Committee and the Mary G. Roebling Musical Scholarship Fund.
She was president of the board of the Hobin Harp Foundation and the Mary G. Roebling Foundation. Bettie tirelessly devoted her life to serving her community, her friends, and her family.
Bettie was a graduate of the Harcum Junior College. She was a parishioner of Trinity Cathedral of Trenton and practiced Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism, chanting "nam-myoho-renge-kyo" joyfully as a member of the SGI-USA world peace organization.
Bettie will be most remembered by her devotion to the General Washington chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She served the DAR as regent and vice regent for many years and spoke fondly of her friends there. She was also a member of the Henry Morrison Flagler chapter of the DAR of West Palm Beach, FL.
Bettie is survived by her children, Diana Mayer, Andrew Dutch, Deborah Dutch and David Dutch; her grandchildren, Bryn, Ryan, Bronwen, Sera, Buffy, and Kimberly and her great-grandchildren, Aiden, Cavin, Cassy, and Sofia.
Bettie was renowned as a compassionate and generous woman. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family.
