Roger L. Harkness, 7234 Flaming Forest, San Antonio, Texas, age 37, died March 12, 1983. He was born May 9, 1945 in Lansing, Michigan and had spent most of his life in Mason. He was a 1963 graduate of Mason High School and a graduate of Michigan State University. Mr. Harkness was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, serving with the U.S. Navy. He taught elementary physical education in Howell and later in Mason, moving to Texas in 1981. He was a member of the Helotes United Methodist Church, Helotes, Texas.
Surviving are his wife, Judy; 1 daughter, Karla S.; 1 son, Jay A.; father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Hallie L. Harkness of Mason; grandmother, Hilda Harkness of Eaton Rapids; 1 sister, Mrs. Mary Skuse of Mason.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mason First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Ash Street, with the Reverend Jerrie Jones, Pastor of the Helotes United Methodist Church, Helotes, Texas and the Reverend George R. Grettenberger, Pastor and Associate Pastor, Reverend Dr. Robert L. Wessman of the Mason First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Ball-Dunn Chapel, Gorsline Runciman Co., Mason after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Friends who desire may make contributions to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, 1124 Columbia Street, Seattle, Washington.
