In memoriam Lieut Max. E. Hecht who died in Tamsui on the 19th August 1892 in his 39th year. Ruhe seiner asche. Erected by his friends.

German naval officer and engineer who was hired by governor Liu Ming-chuan to supervise the construction of Hobe Fort. In 1891 he was conferred the Imperial Order of the Double Dragon.

He has two graves: one in Chinese, and one in Latin/English/German. Chinese name: 巴恩士
