"Her death certificate is wrong, she is a daughter of Thomas J Fair & 1st wife Emma Alsop, Thomas married Sarah Ella Landers 6 Apr 1893. Hester's marriage record has Thomas J Fair & Emma Alsop, her mother died the 14,July,1892. The 1900 census I do not know why Sarah, her stepmother states married in 1887 when the marriage record is in 1893 & stating she had 4 children when she did not, she had an infant died in 1901 & Frederick b. Sept.1894, it could be possible there were 2 more children that also died in infancy. All I can say is Hester probably considered Sarah her mother since she was raised by her, after all she was only 3 when her mother died. Thomas J & Emma (Alsop) Fair had 3 children, William H.,Hester & an infant who died at 23 days in 1892." Thanks!
