Consecrated Bishop of Oregon and Washington Territories.
DEATH OF BISHOP SCOTT
The Rev. Thomas Fielding Scott, the Episcopal Missionary Bishop of Oregon and Washington Territory, died in New York on Sunday, after a brief illness. He fell a victim to Panama fever, which he contracted while en route from California to New York. The deceased was formerly a Presbyterian minister, but joined the Episcopal Church, and was consecrated prelate of Oregon and Washington Territories, by Bishop Elliott, of Georgia. He was a prominent candidate for Bishop of Georgia before the late Convention, and in the event of a persistent declination of Dr. Bockwith, would probably have been chosen as Bishop Elliott's successor.
