He is survived by one daughter, Debbie Atkins of Atkins; three sons, Gale Atkins III of Marion, Joseph Atkins of Wytheville, and Aaron Atkins of Salem; his mother, Marie T. Atkins of Marion; one brother, Stephen G. Atkins of Marion; three grandchildren, Kayla Renee Atkins, Andrew Atkins and Logan Atkins; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 8, at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Marion Boggs officiating. Burial followed in Rose Lawn Cemetery.
Seaver-Brown Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
