Manuel B. Almeida, 55, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2013. He was born in Portugal and lived in Elizabeth for most of his life. He was employed at Construction Specialties in Cranford as a computer specialist. Manuel was an usher at St. Genevieve Church in Elizabeth and a diehard New York Giants fan.

Manuel is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn, his brother Jose and his wife Tammie, sister Aurora Sa and her husband Antonio, and his sister-in-law Ellen Karpinski. He also leaves behind his nephew Jose Jr., 2 nieces Cristina Sa Babajko and her husband Andrew and Layalea Almeida, as well as two godchildren Joana Sa and Matthew Almeida.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13 from 6-9 PM and Sunday, July 14 from 2-6 PM at the McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Ave Union NJ. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at church on Monday. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 15 at St. Genevieve Church, Elizabeth at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Manuel's name may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
