Policeman Loses a Leg.
The right leg of Patrolman Peter Green was amputated above the knee at the city hospital Monday afternoon. The patient was doing well and will recover from the operation.
Green is a colored man and quite large. Seven weeks ago, with Officer McFadden, he gave chase to a chicken thief named Howard, on Eighteenth street near Lydia avenue. During the chase, Officer Green ruptured an artery in his leg. Every effort was made to save the leg, but amputation was finally necessary to save his life.

Police Officer Green Dead.
Officer Peter Green died at the city hospital at 6 o'clock yesterday morning, the result of an amputation of the right leg above the knee, Monday. Green ruptured an artery in his leg several weeks ago, and amputation was resorted to as the only chance of saving his life. Green did not recover from the shock of the amputation, however. He had been a member of the police force since November 4, 1894, and was considered a good officer. He was a widower with one son. He lived with his mother at 114 Locust street.

Funeral of Officer Green.
The funeral of the late Police Officer Peter Green will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Allen's chapel, Tenth and Charlotte streets.
At a meeting of the Police Relief Association held yesterday suitable resolutions were adopted extending sympathy to the family of the late policeman.
