He attended Lanham Elementary School and Bladensburg High School. He enlisted and was a Seaman Recruit working as a sheetmetal worker in the US Navy who was killed with his brother, William Edward Jewell, when their pickup truck missed a turn and smashed into a tree in Lanham, MD.
He was survived by his parents, Joseph Leonard Jewell and Minnie Elizabeth Blanchard Jewell; and a sister, Elizabeth Lucille Jewell Talcott Bridge.
Interment on November 1, 1955.
