MRS. DAVIS DEAD.
The body of Mrs. Daniel Davis, who died at the state hospital in Kankakee Saturday afternoon, was brought to Arcola Sunday afternoon and taken to her late residence. Funeral services were held there at 2:30 o'clock Monday, Rev. L. G. Adams officiating. Interment was in the Arcola cemetery.
WAS 96 YEARS OLD.
She was born near Connersville, Ind., May 22, 1825, and came to Arcola forty five years ago. Throughout her life she has enjoyed remarkable health until ten months ago when she began to suffer from softening of the brain. Her daughter cared for her until two weeks ago when she herself became ill and it was necessary to take the aged woman to the hospital.
Mrs. Davis was the eldest of ten children. Her mother died when she was but fifteen years of age and the care of the other children devolved upon her. She was married to Daniel Davis at Newport, Ind. His death occurred nine years ago. She leaves three children. They are Mrs. Ella Chamblin, Miss Flora Davis, Arcola; S. R. Davis, Cleveland, Miss. One brother, William DeHaven, of Paris, also survives.
