Thelma Hitchcock
BAINBRIDGE — Thelma E. Hitchcock, 96, of Bainbridge, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2002, at the New York State Veteran's Home in Oxford.
She was born May 4, 1905, the daughter of the late Charles M. and Elizabeth Riddle Taylor in Salem, Ohio.
Thelma married Elwyn D. Hitchcock on Nov. 5, 1945. He predeceased her on April 15, 1997.
She was employed as a teller for NBT Bank in Bainbridge for 20 years and retired in 1946.
Mrs. Hitchcock was the past secretary for the Bainbridge Historical Society, past historian for the Bainbridge Women's Club and past member of the Library Association.
She loved to paint and sew, and although crippled by arthritis, she continued her many activities which included her beautiful flower garden, which was envied by many.
She is survived by niece, Betty Patchen of Bainbridge; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Donna and Berkley Hammond of Huntsville, Ala., and Hilda and Leon Van Camp of Bainbridge; special friends, James O'Connor and family; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by her brother, Charles Taylor.
Funeral and committal services will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Bainbridge at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Greenlawn Cemetery Association, Alzheimer's Association, 1406 Monroe St., Endicott, NY 13760 or the charity of one's choice.
