Fannie Mae Dougherty, 78, a lifelong Wagoner resident, departed this life on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. She was born June 5, 1934 in Fort Gibson, OK to Marvin and Nettie (Thornburgh) Benton. Before retirement Fannie was a home care provider for those who needed her. Her family remembers that she loved to go to church and enjoyed singing. She was accomplished in a number of art forms, including painting, crochet and embroidery. She was devoted to her faithful companion, her dog, "Baby Jewel".
Fannie was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert Dougherty, Barney Montgomery, and Charles Fortner; and two brothers, Charles Benton and Bill Benton. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner. Interment will be in Ray Cemetery in Sequoyah State Park in Hulbert, OK.
