Greenlawn Cemetery opened in 1953 so we do not have any burials before that time. Actually I stand corrected, we do have one old burial for Captain John Lanier (an 18th century sea captain) who was born in Surry County, VA in 1763 and died on February 2, 1846. His burial site is in front of our office. Sydney [email protected]

Aged 83 years.

The tenor of his life was even; his
purpose and practice were honest.

In thus filling up the measure of his
earthly existence, he secured universal res-
pect, and died lamented by all who enjoyed his
acquaintance.
