Mike Gene Lathem, 57, of Sebastopol, died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013 in the chapel at Milling Funeral Home of Sebastopol, with burial in Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Milling Funeral Home.

A native of Scott County, Mike was born September 13, 1955 to Jim and Leona Lathem. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Lathem.

Mike was an avid reader, conversationalist and gardener. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and the bounty of his garden. Mike was a member of Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church. A former mechanic and USDA inspector, Mike spent his last years as an over-the-road truck driver.

Mike is survived by his children, son Joseph and wife Taryn Lathem of Stockbridge, GA; daughter Candice Lathem of Forest Park, GA; grandchildren Lucas Lathem and Jaszimine Lathem; former wife Patricia Lathem; mother Leona Lathem; sisters, Gloria Boozer of Carthage and Linda Corley of Sebastopol; brothers Jimmy Lathem of Sebastopol, Bobby Lathem of Florence, and Skip Lathem of Brandon.

Pallbearers will be Michael Anderson, Jeremy Corley, Jonathan Corley, Christopher Lathem, Michael Lathem, and Adam Taylor.
